Working with professional writers at Byron’s home.
This conference is those working with pupils in KS2 and KS3 to inspire young writers. Four professional writers will lead workshops that illustrate their writing practices, what inspires them and what this might mean for those promoting pupils’ writing.
Delegates will get the chance to work with a TV scriptwriter (Coronation Street, Emmerdale), published novelists, a crime writer and journalists.

Keynote speaker: Marvin Close
Marvin Close has been a professional writer for 15 years since graduating from University of Lancaster, working mainly in television and theatre. Among his credits are Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Tracey Beaker. One of his recent works is the film Invisible Eddie, the powerful story of a child with Asperger’s Syndrome. “It’s my crusade to help support teachers in shedding off the restrictive, bloody infuriating straitjacket of tick box, ofsted-ed national curriculum nonsense”
